You Can’t Fail if You Won’t Quit – Jasmine’s Journey of Healing
When we get knocked down spiritually it’s imperative that we always get back up.
Last year I began a new spiritual discipline with my friend, Junica. We committed to fast together one day a week. It had been a long time since I had fasted so I knew it would take some determination on my part and accountability from a friend.
The Bible talks about fasting and prayer being a way to “strong arm” the enemy and I was in a place where I wanted to see God move more in my life and in Jasmine’s. Junica and I used our fasting day to be spend more time in God’s Word as we combined our prayers to heaven.
But, as what happens too often, the devil decided to step in with an attack to get me off track. It’s now been several months since I’ve fasted and earlier this week the Holy Spirit gently reminded me of the commitment I had made. So in response, I stood back up on my spiritual feet and texted Junica asking her if she was willing to begin again. I’m so grateful for the spiritual friends that I have. Without having to even think about it she was ready to join me.
It can be so discouraging to go forward one step and then fall back two. On the other hand, the severity of the attack on me last year just proves that I’m on the right track. satan knows that when a humbled heart seeks God through fasting and prayer he is defeated.
I recently heard Bill Johnson say, “Anytime there is opposition or a challenge, I open my Word and read until He talks.” As I position myself in that place with God every day I am establishing a habit of running to God first so that His strength can keep me in a place of faithfully believing for God’s miracle in Jasmine’s life.
