Praying Through Anxiety & Fear

“The Lord is ever present with us. Don’t be anxious about things; instead pray… He longs to hear your requests… be thankful… And know that the peace of God (a peace that is beyond any and all of our human understanding) will stand watch over your hearts and minds in Jesus… fill your minds with beauty and truth… Meditate on whatever is honorable… whatever you learned and received and heard and saw in me – do it – and the God of peace will walk with you.” (Philippians 4:4-9, The Voice)

Wow! There are so many things I could focus on as I read these verses of Scripture, but I want to keep it simple and powerful so let me share what’s foremost on my heart for us today. God is promising us His incredible peace in these verses, peace beyond anything we could ever know outside of Him, peace that can even break through our fears and anxieties. How does this happen? By filling our minds with His truth, focusing on the beauty of Him instead of focusing on our fears. I want to encourage you to read these verses for yourself, but for now I want to write a prayer from them that we can focus on as we invite God’s peace into our lives.

God, I am thankful because you are here with me. I am not anxious about anything. Instead I use my time and energy to pray, filling my heart and mind with Your Word. Thank You that your peace is standing watch over my heart and mind in Jesus. God of peace, walk with me today.

How do we bring Scriptures to life within us? There are many beautiful ways to spend time with God through His Word. One of my favorite is to take Scriptures and confess them over my life. For examp
