Let the Journey Begin…
I’m ready! I’ve been desperate to find this path for over 20 years. Desperate, but not really looking. Instead I’ve held onto denial and lived in stubbornness because life wasn’t following my plan.
It’s time to look at my side of this equation. Instead of trying to force boundaries on others, I’m learning the freedom of building healthy boundaries around my own life. I’ve tried to fight against life’s battles from so many angles, but it’s all too easy and familiar for me to get sucked back into destructive, unhealthy cycles.
Enter the scene my new friend, Ruth, who knows all too well about life’s struggles. Her experience and mentorship are blessing me in ways that echoes the answers I’ve been crying out to God for.
So here begins our journey. We decided to read the book “Boundaries” by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend and get together weekly to discuss it. To date I’ve only read the first 50 pages, but it’s already changing my life in amazing ways!
God has challenged me to blog my way through this book and encourage others to join me on the path of setting healthy boundaries for our lives. Are you ready? I’d love to have you read the book along with me, but if you choose not to, then feel free to just read my blogs and respond with questions or comments.
I want to end each blog with a Scripture and quote from “Boundaries”.
“Above all else, watch over your heart; diligently guard it because from a sincere and pure heart come the good and noble things of life.” Proverbs 4:23
“these boundaries define your soul, and they help you to guard it and maintain it.” (p. 31)
