Ever Be – Jasmine’s Journey of Healing
“And we’ll be known by our true name” (Ever Be + Spontaneous Worship – Kalley).
That phrase hit me this morning as I was worshiping God. I walked into the “Moroccan” room in our house where Jasmine had displayed her artwork. She expresses her physical and emotional pain through drawings and paintings. It’s heart-wrenching to see her suffering so vividly displayed on canvas, but it gives me a clearer picture of what she deals with every day. As I looked at those paintings her “name” was was “suffering”, “darkness”, and “hopelessness”.
Oh, God, thank you for the power of worship! Thank you for reminding me this morning that You are known for stepping into the darkness of Your people and giving them new names!
God gave new names to Abraham, Isaac, and Peter. Each new name signified new lives, new chances, and stamped them with the visions of their God.
As I spent time in the Word of God I found His promise, His vision for Jasmine’s life: “I lie down at night and fall asleep. I awake in the morning—healthy, strong, vibrant—because the Eternal supports me.” (Psalm 3:5)
So this morning I am claiming new names for Jasmine. They are “healthy”, “strong”, and “vibrant”. Because God said it I believe that she will be known by her true names!
