Created to Liberate – Jasmine’s Journey of Healing
How often is God’s Word true? If He said it in the Bible does He only fulfill it part of the time? We often end prayers of faith with “Your will be done”, but isn’t the Bible His will? Didn’t He promise it because it’s something He wants to release into the earth?
These are questions I’ve struggled with as I’ve devoted my heart to praying God’s Word back to Him. My experience has been that if I pray my own thoughts and words it’s like a “stab in the dark”, but if I pray God’s Words then I’m in agreement with His will and He has promised to do whatever we ask if it lines up with His will. There’s definitely a journey of humility and faith in the mix, but I believe we need to take God at His Word.
This morning I was reading/praying a scripture from Isaiah 58 that I wrote out for Jasmine. This one really speaks to my heart about her because it describes one of her greatest gifts and passions: Helping those who are hurting. This is what I wrote:
“Jasmine liberates those tied down and held back by injustice, to lighten the load of those heavily burdened. She frees the oppressed and shatters every type of oppression. She shares her food with people who have none, giving those who are homeless a space in her home. She gives clothes to those who need them, not neglecting her own family. Because of this her light is breaking out like the warm golden rays of a rising sun; in an instant she will be healed. God’s righteousness precedes and protects her; the glory of the Eternal follows and defends her… her light shines in the darkness, even her bleakest moments will be bright as a clear day. The Eternal one will never leave her; He leads her in the way that she should go.”
What a promise! As I read this out loud, putting Jasmine’s name in it I am filled with the hope of the future God is holding out for Jasmine. This is His “will” that He has promised for her and I will continue to claim it until I see His “light break out like warm golden rays” into her life.
