Always Protects – Jasmine’s Journey of Healing

One of the reasons that I started blogging about my journey of praying for God to heal my daughter is because He has given me a heart to help others. I want to see God’s love and power revealed in all of our lives.

The one drawback to this is how frustrated I feel when I try to help someone who is sick or hurting and there’s nothing “I” can do about it. I’ve had many conversations with God asking Him why He has broken my heart for this world but seemingly not given me the ability to step in and make a difference.

However, I feel like I’m on a treasure hunt in God’s Word. I believe with all my heart that it has the answers and power to break through our suffering and bring us into His marvelous light. I am incredibly grateful this morning because yesterday I caught a glimpse of that light.

I’ve been trying to help a friend of mine who battles with debilitating depression. I’m journeying with her into the Word of God to see what wisdom and healing is there for her. Yesterday she messaged me that she was journaling Scripture and as she started to write that love “always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” She decided to replace the word “love” with “God” and when she came to the words, “always protects” the realization hit her over the head that she struggles with believing that. Some things that have happened to her proves the opposite – that God wasn’t there for her.

I am seeing the Word of God come to life in her! She had an encounter with God where He lovingly pointed out an issue she needs healing in spiritually so that He can heal her emotionally. That was like a free counseling session with the Almighty God!

So now we are praying together for God’s Word to bring truth to her and heal her. From where we both sit her life’s story shows that God didn’t always protect her, especially during times when she needed Him most. But from God’s perspective and through His Word He can heal those moments by telling Her how much He loves her and the Holy Spirit can bring to life the Scriptures that reveal the truth that God will never leave her or forsake her. I don’t know how God will do all that but I can’t wait to find out!
