21 Days – Jasmine’s Journey of Healing
Today our family began the 21 day journey to go deeper into the Word of God. We have committed to focus on one Scripture each day and take time to pray it into our hearts morning, noon, and night. As I was sitting with God last night, His Word open on my lap, I prayed that the Holy Spirit would lead me to a chapter that we can get 21 prayers from. He immediately reminded me of Psalm 119. This is the longest chapter in the Bible and beautifully portrays David’s relationship with God through His Word. It’s one of my favorite chapters in the Bible.
So last night I read through the chapter and wrote down 21 of my favorite verses from it. Today we began our fast with verse 11 (and by fast I mean fasting of our time and giving it to seeking God).
“Deep within me I have hidden Your Word so that I will never sin against You.”
(Psalm 119:11, The Voice)
“I consider Your prophecies to be my greatest treasure, and I memorize them and write them on my heart.”
(Psalm 119:11, Passion)
We ended our day as we talked about this verse and prayed it together as a family. I love how the Passion version describes the journey “I memorize them and write them on my heart.” That’s my heart’s cry for my family for these next 21 days. I am believing that the Holy Spirit is anxious to bless our time and write God’s Word on our hearts as we spend time in His Word.
This is actually one of the most powerful things we can do as Christians. It doesn’t require hours of Bible study every day to have God’s Word written in our hearts. Carry the Word with you wherever you go. Take 5 minutes 3 times a day and practice speaking God’s Word out loud. As you do this ask the Holy Spirit to teach you how to pray the Word. Put your name in the Scripture and claim it for now. I guarantee that it will change your life and grow your faith. Just wait until the first time you experience God step in and fulfill His Word that you’ve been faithfully speaking/praying. It will leave you hungering to know Him more and more through His Word!
I believe that as we commit this time to God as a family He will speak love, purpose, and healing to each one of us. I don’t know exactly how God is going to step in and heal Jasmine, but I know that this is an important step in the process.
